Reflection By Elsi Elena: A Mother, Leader, and Catalyst for Change in Flagstaff

NAIC Leader Elsi Elena is a San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church member and a mother of two students at Flagstaff High School. She recently co-chaired NAIC actions with city and county officials, including the police chief, sheriff, and school district leadership, gaining concrete commitments from them to work with NAIC to keep families safe.

She reflected, "I never thought I could do it, but I did! Where there is a will, there is a way! I am glad because I will be there, holding conversations and asking questions, because we need to know and have [public officials] respond...It is especially important to [participate in NAIC] because things need to change, and I want to have a role in that change. I am learning about critical issues by getting to know different people, who we should engage with, and who can do something about it."
