2022 Accomplishments

Criminal Justice

NAIC's Criminal Justice Team has successfully advocated to Flagstaff City Council and other stakeholders for an alternative response model aimed at diverting people from the criminal justice system when what is most needed is mental health/addiction intervention and support. They successfully advocated for $2.5 million to fund the alternative response model. The Criminal Justice Team has been actively collaborating with the mayor and city council members, the deputy city manager, the county sheriff, and chief deputy, the county prosecutor, and deputy attorney, and with leaders of the county health and human services department to support the successful implementation of the alternative response model.

Housing Options

The Lack of Housing Options (LOHO) Team has been advocating for the passage of the 10-Year Housing Plan, which was approved by the city council early this spring. In 2021, Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona, an NAIC participating institution, was able to administer $154,000 in assistance to first-time home buyers, house 27 adults, and 40 children in their affordable rental units, and offer 91 individuals safety in Sharon Manor. Next up is advocating for a housing bond on the 2022 ballot.
