2023
- Worked with the City of Sedona to implement a business incubator program called Local First for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, which has trained 36 business leaders- now with the fourth cohort- all of this absolutely free and for the first time ever in Northern Arizona.
- Secured commitments from Flagstaff Unified School District to expand and continually improve language services for all our students and their families through translation and interpretation services and bilingual staff.
2022
- Organized our institutions to help pass the Flagstaff housing bond, which dedicates $25 million to affordable housing solutions, and to collect the necessary signatures for three education funding referendums to be added to the November ballot.
- Successfully advocated for the construction of a multi-use pathway along Andante Drive in Sedona, a frequently used but dangerous road with no lighting and no sidewalk.
- Organized to pass Proposition 308, which provides in-state tuition to all students who have completed at least two years in an Arizona high school, regardless of immigration status.
2021
- Collaborated with Coconino County to sponsor bilingual Covid-19 vaccination clinics at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church for the immigrant community who might otherwise have had trouble accessing the vaccine.
2020
- Leveraged funding to provide $500 relief checks to families ineligible for federal Covid-19 relief funds.
2016
- Advocated for increased state funding for public education, including a District 1 candidate forum on education attended by more than 200 people
2014
- Worked with other Flagstaff organizations and City Council to save the Arrowhead Village trailer park, whose residents were threatened with displacement as a result of new development. Despite this initial victory, the trailer park was later sold by the owner, torn down, and currently sits empty.
2013
- Advocated for the expansion of Medicaid in Arizona, which has now restored AHCCCS coverage for 50,000 childless adults.
- Collaborated in launching the West Sedona Family Center, with English classes for immigrant parents and a homework club and childcare for kids at West Sedona School.
- Organized to address concerns about translation and interpretation services at North Country HealthCare, leading to the hiring of an additional, full-time, Spanish interpreter and the creation of a cultural competence committee to implement improvements to services.
2010
- Helped pass an ordinance allowing for the long-term rental of Accessory Dwelling Units in Sedona, allowing residents to receive income from rental housing on their property and opening up a source of affordable housing.
2008
- Advocated for establishment of a regional public transit system plan in Yavapai Country
